How to Make Money Flipping Websites

You can see how to make money online by flipping websites without creating too much hard work for yourself right here. Following on from my last post here at How to Make Money Online Hints, this is another excellent way to make money online legitimately. I won’t go too deeply into the workings of this, as many excellent posts have already been written about the subject elsewhere.

But what I will do is give you some useful information on what you’re going to need in order to know how to make money online in big chunks doing this, rather than just turning a mediocre profit. Ah, thought that might get your attention!

So, what’s involved in this latest how to make money online hint?

There are a few fairly straightforward steps you need to take to get a project like this up and running, but it doesn’t take all that much work if you’re willing to box clever.

Well the first thing you need is a good domain. That ultimately depends upon what niche you are going to build your website in and the availability of a good re-sellable domain name that is pre-aged. By pre-aged, I mean an old domain that you can buy from the GoDaddy expired domains auction. This is so that you’re new website will stand a better chance of getting indexed and ranked by Google and alsoof staying out of their sandbox. The reasons should be obvious, but if you don’t know, then to make the most money from selling on your website you need to show good organic traffic stats and hopefully some good sales trends.

That is, you’ll make more for your website the more money it makes and the more organic traffic it attracts. This is very important and will make the difference between a big healthy profit and merely a mediocre one!

How to Make Money Online

Once you have your killer domain name, you need to get your site up on it as quickly as possible and start populating it with relevant, original content. I’m not going to hark on about original content here – I do that in enough of my posts because it is so damned important. Here, suffice it to say you should not be selling a website that is made up of PLR articles that every other Tom, Dick and Harry already has! Potential buyers will check, that you can count on!

Then you need to also be getting backlinks to the site like there’s no tomorrow. Ok, not quite so crazy, but you need to press quite hard here, just not so hard that Google sandboxes the site for too much too soon! You have to find a balance but get as close to the line as you dare! You want to see fast results so that you can sell a site that is performing well for maximum dollars.

Then you’ll need a little time for things to come together.

By that, I mean you’ll need to wait until Google has gone through its next Page Rank update because if you’d done all your linking properly in the preceding time, your site should have gotten some PR. The more the better, obviously but you should be able to manage a PR3 without too much trouble.

While those of us in the know understand that page rank is not the be all and end all of a website’s ability to make money online, most potential buyers do not and place a lot of weight on page rank. We simply exploit the fact that “they know better” by getting Page Rank to inflate the value of the website we’re going to sell.

Page Rank is one factor that we can use to our advantage. Alexa rank is another.

Again, many of us know that Alexa rank is not worth the paper it is printed on (!) but to many a potential website buyer, they look upon a healthy Alexa rank as meaning the site is of greater value traffic wise than it actually is. Now, while you can’t fake your Alexa rank, you can do stuff to improve it vastly.

How?

I’ll tell you.

The Alexa rank is determined by counting the number of visitors to a site that have the Alexa toolbar installed on their browser. Most Internet Marketers have that toolbar installed because they like to see the Alexa rank of their own and their competition’s sites. Everyone else in the world who is not an Internet Marketer (and that’s most of ‘em) does not have the Alexa toolbar installed. Think about it. Why on earth should they? Most people have never heard of Alexa, or page rank for that matter and they don’t care. Most people surfing the net are looking for information about something or other. Very few are looking to learn how to make money online, so they don’t know about it or need it. But most people can make up the vast majority of traffic to a website, which will never be counted by Alexa, so you can see their results are usually way off.

So in order to inflate your Alexa rank, you need to attract other Internet marketers (who do have the Alexa toolbar installed on their browsers) to your site. One of the best ways to do that is to attract scrapers. Yes, you heard right. Scrapers often have the Alexa toolbar installed and they are always looking for content to steal that they think they can use to make money off. The kind of content they’re usually after is high competition stuff, like gadgets, iphones, xbox, playstation, playstation portable, nintendo, games, laptops, cell phones, ring tones… etc. You get the picture.

Use this knowledge to your advantage.

Make a post or two and keyword stuff the bollocks out of it with high tech gadget keywords, then link to it from some high tech forums and I guarantee the scrapers will appear out of nowhere and be all over your site like a cheap suit. Viola, your Alexa rank will climb fast!

This is a short term trick as once the scrapers depart they’re not likely to come back so you need to fudge your Alexa rank so it climbs sharply a couple of weeks before you sell. You also need to remove the keyword stuffed posts as soon as they’ve done their job.

Once your site is well populated with relevant content, it has some page rank and a decent Alexa rank, you can then go to one of the websites where you can sell your site such as SitePoint and put it up for sale. There are several good articles about exactly how to go about this written elsewhere, so I won’t go into that side of things deeply here as its just duplicating other articles.

How much money you make on your site depends on several factors, such as the quality of its domain name and relevance to its niche, the niche itself and how competitive it is, the quality of your website theme and layout, how good your traffic stats look and whether that traffic is predominantly organic (good) or social (not so good), page rank, Alexa rank, SERPs position for its main keywords in Google (if you’ve managed to push it high enough in the index) and finally some luck.

That last one does make a difference because it’s the luck of the draw if you get a buyer looking for a site that sits exactly in the niche your’s occupies and he finds it before he finds someone else’s.

So now you know how to make money online flipping websites. Ok, it involves some work, but the short term ROI can be quite stunning and run into several hundreds or even thousands of dollars, so its important to get it all right and squeeze every last dollar out of your hard work!

Make Money Hints

Here’s How to Make Money Online

Greetings fellow make money online marketers. I’m following my last keyword weighted post here at How to Make Money Online Hints, which I really went to town over in order to push forward the importance of using the keywords you want to rank for in your posts as well as getting back links to your site to improve its SERPs placement and authority. Well that was then, this is now.

Here’s how to make money online. Its a bold statement that probably got your attention pretty quick which is the reason you’re here and reading through my annoyingly long drawn out way of writing to get to the best bits, or that point in the proceedings where I spill the beans and actually come out and tell you how to make money online. Well, you may well have heard a lot of this before, in fact I’m sure you have, but there is more to my rambling style than meets the eye.

This post has a dual function as always. I don’t just spend all this time hammering away at the keypad for my health and neither do I do it just to pad out this blog with content, although that is certainly a part of it. I also don’t do it just to give away large portions of my not inconsiderable knowledge to those of you who have, by hook or by crook, found this helpful, make money hints blog of mine which is all about how to make money online. Nope, I do it for all of these reasons combined and more.

You see, part of building up a website or blog is of course creating lots of good, keyword relevant content in order for the serach engines to find it relevant enough to include it in their respective indexes. Or should that be indeces? Mmm, not important. You see this is all leading somewhere and its important that you understand why I’m doing this.

Let’s face it the only search engine really worth getting to the top of is Google, because they are simply the search engine that by far the majority of people use. And you need to attract a portion of those people to come to your site, if you want to make money online, as these people are all potential customers, or at the very least they are the people that will make money for you. I’ve said it befire, but I’ll say it again and again because it is so important to grasp if you want to stand any chance of making money online any time soon. You need organic search traffic and you need it to be targeted to your niche to stand any chance of getting your site to make money for you.

Forget trying to attract stumblers and digg traffic or any of the other social site traffic as a source of income, because social traffic will not click your ads or click your affiliate links. Why? Because the vast majority of social traffic are marketers just like you. They know what an adsense or other PPC ad looks like and they simply don’t click them. They know what an affiliate ad looks like and if they wanted to go buy a product from Clickbank, they’ll use their own affiliate link to buy it and get their own discount, not yours or give you the commission.

Once you get that idea firmly entrenched into your grey matter, then you can start to throw off the shackles of the A-lister blogger mentality that will keep you broke for as long as your credit card stays under its limit and start to learn the truth about how to make money online!

You make it using the make money online tools that are freely available to everyone who has the nouse to look for them. I’ve already mentioned PPC, chiefly adsense. This is not going to be a post about adsense as there are other more knowledgeable souls out there than me on that subject. Suffice it to say, having a niche site well positioned in the Google index with adsense will make money for you. Ten sites all in different niches and all equally well positioned in the SERPs will make money in spades for you.

But there are more ways to skin a cat, likewise there are more ways to make money online than the average marketer can shake a stick at. So here is one of them that I am knowledgeable about. Domains. Or more specifically using domains as online real estate for using as your fast make money online tools.

How?

Buying new domains from the likes of GoDaddy is fine, but its getting increasingly tough to find appropriate domain names for your niche that have the coveted .com suffix. Plus the fact that new domains that have great websites or blogs added to them can suffer the effect known as the sandbox if they get too popular or attract too much traffic too soon. They start off well and do nicely in the SERPs attracting good organic traffic for a month or two then they disappear off the map and traffic drops to nothing. That’s the sandbox and new sites can expect to spend some time in there, from a few weeks to several months, until they suddenly emerge and go back into the index and start seeing traffic again.

One very good way of avioding the sandbox is to buy a domain that already exists and has been around for over two years more or less. These can be had at auction, some with working websites already on them that are attracting good traffic and have good SERPs placement. These domains will not be cheap, but can be had at prices ranging anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars, depending upon their age, traffic stats, income generation etc.

Of course you could go your own route by buying an expired domain from Godaddy Auctions and build up yoru own authority site from scratch. Using an aged, authority domain, you have the benefit of Google’s trust, the age of the domain gives it more authority than a new one and a well built site with plenty of relevant content can see itself rising quickly in the SERPs with the right promotional work of getting links and building trust. For a really great post on the subject of expired domains, check out Elliott’s extremely detailed and informative post on the subject at his blog blogexplosion.net by following this link: Buying Aged Preowned Domains

Then you have more options. Once you’ve built up your site with good SEO and are attracting some targeted organic search traffic, you can make money from your website using certain monetisation such as PPC (adsense) or promoting affiliate products, leads or even put up some eBay store widgets.

Or you can make a lot of money fast by flipping the site. This is simply a term relating to reselling the domain with the site you built for a hefty profit. And I do mean hefty.

An expired domain that probably cost you $15 or thereabouts to purchase, plus a few weeks of writing and link building and a few months of maturing could pay dividends if your site is capeable of generating a good income from the monetisation techniques already mentioned and has the verifiable serach engine traffic to do it with, you could be looking at a profit into the thousands of dollars range.

So when I started this post and I said here’s how to make money online and then started to ramble on a little in order to make this post work for me as well as provide information for you, I reckon that now you’ve gotten to this point, I’ve done exactly what I said I would do.

Shown you exactly how to make money online.

Links Make Money Fast

Well, its been awhile with no posts in here, but this lean spell has been created by my having several large freelance writing assignments to wade through and they pay the bills! So following belatedly on from the last post entitled simply: Content, where I not surprisingly wrote a lengthy article all about the need for good, keyword rich content to boost your site’s overall credibility and authority, I will now look at the other side of the SEO coin, links.

By links, I mean the inbound links that your site attracts from outside sources, namely other websites, blogs, Squidoo lenses, Hub Pages, free blogs, and social bookmarking tags. Inbound links from all of these sources will create authority fro your site, so it is important if you want to rank well for certain keywords that you procure as many of these backlinks as you can.

Authority will eventually get you a highly coveted placement on page one of the search engines, but to get there, depending upon the niche you are targeting, you need to have a lot of authority. Well that’s certainly true for highly competitive niches like make money online, or payday loans, or finance, mortgages, credit cards etc as well as some of the more visciously fought over scraps from the technology world with items like iPods, digital cameras, camcorders, mobile phones etc. I think I’ve made my point here.

Of course, if you are targeting less competitive niches and especially for long tail keywords, you don’t need anything like as many backlinks to rank well, as long as the competition as is does not have them either. All you need is a few more good strong keyword anchored links more than the site occupying the top spot and you will overtake them. Thats a fact and so many people still don’t see it.

I’m not going to try to tell you how to compete with the how to make money online brigade, because it takes huge resources in time and money to do that and in the end its reall not worth it. So I’ll instead look at how to overtake much less stiff competition in a smaller niche.

Now, I can’t go telling you which niches to target, as all the ones that I know that make money fast for me will stop doing that if a load of competition turns up at my door and ups the ante!

So I’m going to have to be general here about niches. But suffice it to say there are literally thousands of untapped long-tail keyword niches out there that anyone who stumbles over them will make easy money if they work it right. As I’ve already said, its all about procuring more strong, keyword anchored one-way backlinks than the sites at the top of the list you are targeting.

So how do you know how many of these links you’ll need to overtake the top site in the list?

In a word, you’ll need a good software tool that will tell you how many links a competing site already has, so that you can go ahead and beat them. There is only one software tool that I personally use and swear by and that SEO Elite. You can look at any other website or blog and it will tell you how many inbound links a site has, the text anchor used for thsoe links and, importantly the PR of the sites providing the links.

Armed with that knowledge, you will then know exactly waht you need to do in order to overtake that site, by obtaining more of the same links that the other site has. Now you probably won’t be able to get those links from the same sources, so you need to get creative here.

Find sites that occupy the same niche

Find the sites with the same or higher PR

Find the sites that will give you a keyword anchored link as opposed to a crappy unanchored one

Find sites that will not require a reciprocal link

Go outside and see the pig flying across your neighbourgood!

Yep, I didn’t say it would be easy, but that’s what you have to do. But you don’t always have to go cap in hand and beg borrow or buy those links, although do it if you can. If you’ve been following this blog since its re-entry into the world wide web, which is about 7 or so months, then you should have been diligently building periperal sites of your own that can provide those links for you. By having your own sites with PR and authority, you bypass most of the problems that your competitors will have in obtaining sufficient links to beat you to the top spot.

Ok, you’ll still need to get external links if the top site you want to overtake has a lot of good strong links, but they don’t always. Sometimes you can take that top spot with a mere handful of correctly anchored links versus the other site’s larger volume of un-anchored links even from higher PR sites than you. That’s because when it comes to links, it is all about keyword authority. If your site has greater keyword authority than your competitors, then you will overtake them in the SERPs.

The greatest keyword authority comes in the form of links from high PR sites in the same niche as you that place your keyword in the link’s anchor. One of those will outweigh many links from unrelated sites that are not correctly anchored. If your sites don’t have high PR, then even a PR0 site can give greater authority links than a higher PR site in an unrelated niche that gives a straight un-anchored link.

So with that in mind, you can actually beat any competition in any low competing long tail niche if you have sufficient indexed websites and blogs occupying the same niche that you can focus links to one main site from.

And that’s how to easily make money online without spending it on buying links that could, even the next day lose their juice through a slap if they’re caught selling links! Think about that.

Make Money Hints

Content!

As a nice follow up to my last post here at Make Money Hints, which, believe it or not was all about how to make money fast by getting your site up to the top of the serps using a combination of on-site and off-site SEO techniques, I’m going to continue the theme of using everything you have in your armoury that is legit to keep up the pressure.

One of the most consistently successful make money fast ways of keeping your site on that first page of teh SERPs once you got it there is to keep the content fresh and new. You want to make money fast from organic traffic, as I’ve said countless tinmes in this blog and to do that you need to be on page one of the SERPs.

Google is constantly on the look-out for sites that have fresh, new and relevant content to the topic they are about. And whether that content is really radically new and exciting never heard before kick ass information, or whether its the same old same old rehashed and repackaged like just about every Internet Marketer out there including me is doing, they will always lift the sites that provide it over the ones that don’t.

Simple fact of life. Keep yoru make money fast content fresh any way you can and your site or blog will stay high. Ignore your site and don’t add any fresh content in there for a while and watch your baby slide down the chute into the nether regions of obscurity with all the rest of the lazy, couldn’t be bothered to write some stuff once in a while on their sites!

Oh, and one other make money fast thing about that content. You want it to contain enough of your main and secondary keywords (as in this case fast make money) as you can without overdoing it and keyword stuffing your content. That’ll just get your site flagged as spam which you definitely do not want if you desire any chance to make money fast with it.

But as for your easy make money ways content itself. You want it to be readable, of course or you’ll just end up with all the Eastern European badly written English unintelligible crap sites on page two hundred plus. You know the ones I mean? yep, they’re the ones you come across when you’re searching for your new site in the SERPs and keep going down page by page until you find it eventuall…

Ok, that’s a bit unfair, but hell, it happens!

When your site is new it won’t suddenly jump out and appear on page one! No matter how many make money fast back-links you have in the beginning. The search engines take time to spider all those links and even then if the big G thinks you got them too fast… Wham! your site is gone to the sandbox!

So back to fast make money ways content. Yeah, I know I keep slipping in those easy make money fast keywords all over th place but I’m doing it because that’s what keeps this site on page one and not writing the best grammaticlally correct English. Why? Because easy make money fast is a phrase that doesn’t easily lend itself to fitting nicely into any grammar I know, so it just has to stick out like a sore make money fast thumb wherever I can insert it because I want the search engines to know that they are my main keywoprds for this site.

W hich is how you will also get your site onto the front page my friend. Not by courting hundreds of loyal readers from stumbleupon and digg, or collecting hundreds of loyal feed readers. They will get you jack shit, unless of course your only motive is to be read and not to make money (fast)!

To make money fast in this cut-throat game, you firsdt need to have your site or blog in another niche than the not-so-easy make money niche. Why? As I and several other marketers have repeated over and over gain, you will not make money in the anything but easy make money niche. Its crap. The only people that read make money fast blogs are other marketers trying to find the holy grail of how to easy make money fast for themselves.

Ok, you might attract a few noobs and maybe they’ll buy an affiliate eBook through your link, but most noobs only read the sites that are at the top of the SERPs and those sites are SEO’d up to the hilt by expert marketers all vying for that front page spot so they can make money fast from them. If you’re just starting out forget it. You have absolutely no chance of breaking in there for a loooong time!

Instead, direct your energy and enthusiasm into a less competitive niche where you stand a better chance of getting onto the front page and attracting genuine organic search traffic that will click on your ads and affiliate links (mainly because they don’t know what they are) and that way you will make money. Fast?

Maybe not, but it will grow steadily over time, which is the only way to do it after all.

How To Make Money Fast

How to make money fast is a real popular question asked by many people new to Internet Marketing. This might just be a post that will show you how to make money fast using my keyword experiment a little further. My last post here at Make Money Hints, went off on a slight tangent and looked primarily at researching keywords to use in the niches to make money fast. In this how to make money fast post, I’m going to make one or two unpopular statements.

Unpopular How to Make Money Fast Statement 1.

Being on the first page of Google may not get you any traffic.

Unpopular How to Make Money Fast Statement 2.

Being ranked highly for your main keyword may still not get you any traffic.

Let me explain those two statements with a prime example – this how to make money fast blog. If you were to go to Google and type in “fast make money” with the quotes (as most Internet Marketers do), you’ll see this blog sitting in about position two or three. That’s on page 1, by the way. Yesterday I actually sat in the no.1 spot for a while until some bozo with a damn Youtube make money fast video came and stole the top spot.

It doesn’t matter as YouTube posts don’t generally tend to last very long in the SERPs, especially in the make money fast niche.

Update 8th March – I just looked and I’m back in the No.1 spot – here’s a screen-shot:

How to Make Money Fast
Click on the image for a bigger version in a new window/tab

Just shows you how fast YouTube posts drop after their initial placement – the reason is they don’t have any useful written content, so Google doesn’t keep ‘em high for long. Incidentally, the image gives me another chance to promote my featured keyword how to make money fast as the “alt” text – always worth sneaking in an extra bit of SEO! Now back to yesterday’s post…

Well, upon seeing this blog right up near the top, you’d think I’d be cashing in on some of the several hundred a day searches that are made on the term fast make money, or make money fast.

You’d be wrong. Why?

Most people who are not Internet Marketers and therefore exactly the kind of organic, targeted traffic you want at your site, do not use the quotes when searching on a keyword phrase. Let me repeat that little nugget of wisdom if you didn’t quite get it first time around.

Most people do NOT use the quotes when searching on a keyword phrase.

What does that mean in terms of page placement for your site? well, have a look. Type in the same search term, fast make money, this time without the quotes. This site is nowhere – well, languishing down on page 3 or 4, which is as good as nowhere.

What does that tell you?

That while you might think you’re site is doing really well for the long tail keyword you are targeting, if it doesn’t sit in the same spot in the SERPs with or without the quotes, then you are NOT going to attract a slice of that particular search traffic pie.

By way of an example which you can’t see (I’m not revealing this niche – sorry!) I rank about halfway down page one in a different niche that according to Keyword Elite attracts over 100k searches a month! That’s with the quotes – without them, I rank on page two – not so good, but worse than that, it means I don’t see any of those high volume, lucrative searches. If the people searching the two word keyword search term were using the quotes, I’d be seeing a flood of traffic to my site, which pretty much goes to prove my point here.

I know that I have to get that site onto page 1 and pronto – there’s a ton of money to be had from so many searches. That site will certainly make money fast from its PPC and affiliate ads once it gets up high on page one.

Of course the second unpopular make money fast statement ties in with the first, if you were wondering, apart from one minor detail. Well, that minor detail is actually a glaringly obvious BIG detail when it comes to not being able to make fast money from a particular long tail keyword – and that is you should always make sure your keyword is actually being searched on in the first place! Not much use being ranked No.1 for a term that doesn’t get any searches, like another of my early sites that I put together before I really knew what I was doing!

We live and learn when it comes to slow or fast make money ways!

So, to sum up – the rather unpopular and harsh make fast money lesson that I’m expounding here today is that even though you may think you’re doing ok, you may not be, unless you can rank high for keywords that are well searched… both with and without the quotes. How to make money indeed!
